WACHTELL LIPTON ROSEN & KATZ — MEMORANDUM — ATTORNEY STATUS PROGRAM
As the firm has grown, both in terms of the number of lawyers and the space we occupy, it has become increasingly difficult to determine accurately the status and/or whereabouts of our lawyers. This presents challenges for the day-to-day operations of the firm since assistants are not always aware of their lawyers’ schedules or location, as well as security and emergency response/preparedness issues.
As a result, we are piloting an attorney status program on the [nth] floor and, subject to any refinements, it will be implemented firm wide in September. Starting next week, each assistant on the [nth] floor will have an icon on his or her computer and will be required to input the status/location of their assigned attorneys each morning. The icon will include a variety of options, such as “in the office,” “working from home,” “traveling on business,” “leave of absence” and “vacation or other time off.” If a lawyer’s status changes during the day, the assistant will update the system (i.e., if someone is working from home in the morning and is in the office in the afternoon).
Keeping Law School Accessible When Federal Loans Fall Short
As federal borrowing caps tighten financing options for law students, one organization is stepping in to negotiate the terms they can't secure alone.
The lack of awareness of the status and/or location of our colleagues results in staffing and work-related complications and other concerns. We appreciate your cooperation with your assistant on this initiative. If you have any questions please call me at [redacted].
