Professor Lisa McElroy
It’s always great when we get celebrity buy-in for our annual March Madness competition. And this year, Drexel law professor Lisa McElroy decided to flex her muscles and change the course of our Best Law School Scandal bracket.
As we noted earlier today, the fight between the UVA Clerkship Grades scandal and the Professorial Anal Beads scandal saw the most votes of any matchup in the competition so far. And we know why. It seems Professor McElroy found out about the contest, saw that her scandal was CRUISING into the Final Four, and decided to do a little politicking. Our understanding is that she sent out the following email to multiple friends and acquaintances (or maybe posted it on Pornhub for all we know):
AI Is Reshaping Legal Practice—But Tools Aren’t The Real Differentiator.
Explore the mindset, cultural shifts, and training strategies that define the AI‑savvy lawyer, revealing why human judgment, standardized competence, and integrated learning—not technology alone—will shape the future of the profession.
I apologize for the group message. Above the Law is up to its old tricks. It is running a contest for worst law school scandal.

If you could go on and vote AGAINST me – in other words, vote for “Clerkship Grades,” I would be so grateful.
It worked! The entire tide of voting shifted radically in UVA’s favor, and Professor McElroy is no longer in the game.
This was, frankly, awesome to behold. Look, we encourage this sort of engagement.
If you’re the subject of any of these scandals, feel free to get in the mix. This competition is only as good as your involvement makes it!
