Law school graduation is the culmination of your educational career. A meaningful marker between the theory you’ve been studying and the practice you’ll be embarking upon — assuming you manage to pass the bar, of course. Typically an occasion of unambiguous celebration, law students at one Ivy League school decided to inject some political awareness into the festivities.
The below picture is from the recent graduation ceremony at Cornell Law School, and you see grads holding a sign saying “Black Lives Matter #SayHerName”:

The new generation of AI-related legal issues are inherently cross-disciplinary, implicating corporate law, intellectual property, data privacy, employment, corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
Though our Above the Law tipster described the protest as “mild,” it’s hard to imagine many in attendance missed the message.
We haven’t heard from anyone in the Cornell Law class of 2016 complaining about the protest — and the school itself declined to comment on the incident. But it’s a nice reminder that some law students may be in it for more than just a Biglaw payday.
