On The Job: Above The Law’s New Employment Law Center

On the Job is the first in a series of new sites from Above the Law focused on different practice areas.

on-the-job-verticalA new year brings with it new prospects, products, and possibilities. Here at Above the Law, we are pleased to announce the launch of On The Job, our new site focused on labor and employment law.

Over our decade-plus of existence, we here at ATL have focused primarily upon news about the legal profession as opposed to discussion of legal doctrine. But that has changed in recent years, as we have added columnists covering assisted reproductive technology (“ART”) law, China law, criminal law, marijuana law, and white-collar criminal law, among other fields. These columnists practice in the areas they cover and have the expertise that comes from being in the legal trenches.

Over the past few weeks, we have welcomed to our pages three new columnists, all of them practicing employment lawyers: Richard B. Cohen, Evan Gibbs, and Beth Robinson. They write about substantive developments in labor and employment law, with the wit, wisdom, and conversational style that readers expect from Above the Law. They may be joined by additional writers in this space in the future.

Adding their voices to ATL has been in preparation for the launch of On The Job, which their columns anchor. Over the weeks and months ahead, we will be supplementing their contributions with research, rankings, and resources, all centered on labor and employment. We hope that On The Job will become a leading online destination for labor and employment lawyers and for all readers with an interest in the exciting and dynamic area of law.

Over the course of 2017, we will be launching a series of sites focused on different practice areas. Employment law was a natural first stop for us, given how much of ATL’s coverage of the legal profession touches on employment issues such as hiring and firing, layoffs, employment discrimination, diversity and inclusion, and partnership promotion. But it is our first stop, not our last; if you have a suggestion for a specialty you’d like us to cover, please let us know.

On the Job is now open for business. Please check it out here. Thanks!
