I write to announce the launch today of Take Care, a website dedicated to ensuring the President “shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” U.S. Const. Art. II.
Take Care has brought together many of our foremost legal minds to offer insightful, timely, and accessible analysis of President Trump’s policies. Contributors include Larry Tribe, Walter Dellinger, Gillian Metzger, Erwin Chemerinsky, Deepak Gupta, Marty Lederman, and Dawn Johnsen; in total, more than 20 former Supreme Court clerks and numerous former senior Executive Branch officials.

Together, they will cover the major legal issues of our time, from immigration and healthcare to emoluments, civil rights, free speech, and more. The site will also offer daily updates of legal commentary from around the web addressing Trump Administration policies. While they may disagree on particular questions, Take Care‘s contributors stand unified in their conviction that we must protect the rule of law in this Age of Trump.
Take Care was founded by Joshua Matz, a recent law clerk to Justice Anthony M. Kennedy of the U.S. Supreme Court and the co-author, with Larry Tribe, of Uncertain Justice: The Roberts Court and the Constitution (2014). In 2012, Tribe and Matz also published an essay entitled “The Constitutional Inevitability of Same-Sex Marriage.”
About Take Care, Tribe states: “Now more than ever we need the best and brightest to defend the rule of law. They’ve arrived with not a moment to spare.” That sentiment is echoed by Chemerinsky: “Progressives urgently need a forum for discussing how to fight back against the Trump administration, and how to advance rights and equality in this very difficult time. I am so excited about Take Care and the opportunity it presents for developing an arsenal of progressive legal ideas.” Matz explains: “In these extraordinary times, we must all play our part in ensuring the President ‘shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.'”
