Here are the top 10 highest-paid general counsel for 2017, per Corporate Counsel. They are ranked based on total cash compensation for 2016, which includes salary and bonus compensation but does not reflect stock options exercised or stock value realized.

This year’s top 10 list reflects even more movement than last year’s list. Five of the listed lawyers — Denise Keane of Altria, Paul Cappuccio of Time Warner, Alan Crain of Baker Hughes, Michael Sharp of Leucadia National, and Jonathan Graham of Jonathan Graham — didn’t crack the top 10 last year (Cappuccio wasn’t there due to an error), and five more — Thomas P. Mason of Energy Transfer Equity, Gerson A. Zwiefach of 21st Century Fox, Bruce Sewell of Apple, Maryanne Lavan of Lockheed Martin, and John G. Finley of Blackstone Group — have disappeared from the top 10 altogether.
