Joel Sanders, the former CFO of star-crossed firm Dewey & LeBoeuf, received some welcome news this morning when he was sentenced to a million dollar fine and 750 hours of community service, rather than the maximum jail sentence sought by the DA’s office.
While not as high profile to non-lawyer observers, it marks yet another unfortunate headline for the Manhattan District Attorney, who faced considerable flack last week when details surfaced over his handling of a criminal investigation of Ivanka and Don Jr.

More importantly, have we finally killed off the bad “Dewey” puns this publication has peddled since this start of this? Now that the DA’s spent years and buckets of cash trying unsuccessfully to land someone — anyone — from the firm behind bars, can we finally put this firm to bed?
