Associate Bonus Watch: Firm Beats Cravath Scale For All Associates

Small law firm, big money.

Think the (generous) bonus scale Cravath set last week is just about the most an associate can hope for this year? (Without onerous billing requirements which may trigger additional bonuses, of course.) Think again. Wilkinson Walsh + Eskovitz has topped that scale — across the board.

They’re deliberately beating market bonuses in recognition of the work of their associates:

I’m sure that some of you have seen reports of bonus announcements at some big law firms.  As in the past, this year we remain committed to recognizing the contributions of our excellent associates.  And, we are fortunate again this year to be able to provide bonus compensation well above market levels.

The “litigator’s dream shop” proves the firm doesn’t have to be big to dole out big money. So, how much are the lucky associates of WW+E pulling down this year? Check out the numbers below, but, for the math challenged (I know, you became a lawyer because you were told there’d be no math) it is 1.5x the market rate:

Class of 2016:  $22,500

Class of 2015:  $37,500

Class of 2014:  $75,000

Class of 2013:  $97,500

Class of 2012:  $120,000

Class of 2011:  $135,000

Class of 2010 and senior:  $150,000

Congratulations to WW+E associates, looks like drinks are on you!

Please help us help you when it comes to bonus news at other firms. As soon as your firm’s bonus memo comes out, please email it to us (subject line: “[Firm Name] Bonus”) or text (646-820-8477), or tweet (@ATLblog). We always keep our sources anonymous — and that includes our sources for bonus stories. There’s no need to send the memo using your firm email account; your personal email account is fine. Please be sure to include the memo as proof; we like to post complete bonus memos as a service to our readers. You can take a photo of the memo and attach as a picture if you are worried about metadata in a PDF or Word file. Thanks for your help.
