NFL Fan Sues Team Over Athletes' Protests

'One way or another they'll pay,' vows idiot.

I hold in low regard the football fan who is okay with watching athletes go out there and risk brain damage and spinal injury, but is not okay with those same athletes voicing their concerns over police brutality. It takes a special kind of asshole to think that these players should risk their lives but shouldn’t speak their minds.

But then comes this New Orleans Saints fan who is suing the Saints because he claims the athletes’ protests prevented him from enjoying the game, and I think, “Is it fair for me to call the village idiot an ‘asshole’? Who am I to impugn malice? The dog who humps the couch is not trying to ruin your cocktail party, he’s just excited.”

Lee Dragna sounds very excited, and very dumb. From the New Orleans Advocate:

Lee Dragna filed a lawsuit Monday in 24th Judicial District Court in Gretna seeking a refund for the tickets as well as attorney’s fees, claiming the protest by some players against police brutality and racial injustice has prevented him and his family from enjoying the games.

Dragna said he hasn’t attended a game since the first home game of the 2017 season against the New England Patriots, on Sept. 17, when he said some of the players did not come out for the singing of the national anthem….

“Apparently, these players were following the lead of (former San Francisco 49ers quarterback) Colin Kaepernick by disrespecting the flag, the anthem, the USA and those who have served and are serving the USA in our military,” the suit says.

This guy wants a refund on his $8,000 season tickets because the players disrespected the flag. This seems like a good time to mention that the Saints WEREN’T EVEN PROTESTING on the day that Dragna went to the game. Saints running back and Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram points this out:

I honestly think that if somebody had just given Dragna a red rocket, this lawsuit wouldn’t exist.

“[The Saints] don’t even want to talk about this, but I don’t care,” [Dragna] said. “One way or another they’ll pay.”

You know what makes me happy? The Saints are pretty good this year. They’re having their best year since they won the Super Bowl, fielding an exciting team with a two-headed monster at running back, a Hall of Fame quarterback, and a surprisingly competent defense. The Saints are good and this guy paid for yet missed ALL OF IT because he was butthurt by Colin Kaepernick.

Whether he’s an asshole or an idiot, Lee Dragna is the real loser. And not just because he’s going to lose this lawsuit.
