New Mega Firm Posts $1 Billion In Revenue

Not bad, one year post merger.

Looks like the Biglaw merger between London-based Eversheds and Atlanta-based Sutherland Asbill & Brennan last year has really paid off. The combined entity — known now as Eversheds Sutherland —  just reported their earning for the first year post merger, and it looks good. The firm entered the rarified air of the billion (yup, with a B) dollar club, posting $1.05 billion in revenue for 2017.

That’s a five percent growth over the year before. As a result of the merger, Eversheds Sutherland boasts 2,400 lawyers in 66 offices across 32 countries. And as Law.com reports, the firm is looking forward to a bright future:

“We are very fortunate to have clients who entrusted us with some of their most important and significant matters in 2017,” said U.S. co-chief executive Mark Wasserman. “Our growth in the last 12 months is a direct result of the strong collaborative culture that brought us together. Looking ahead, I am confident that our unrelenting focus and commitment to our clients and our people will drive our continued success.”

The firm also touted its client focus as a driver of success:

London-based co-chief executive Lee Ranson said: “By any measure, we have had an excellent first year as Eversheds Sutherland. Clients were the primary driver for bringing our legacy firms together, and the success we have had in winning new clients and growing our business with existing clients has exceeded all our expectations and promises well for the future.”

Keys to Eversheds Sutherland’s banner year include being named Turkish Airline’s sole outside counsel, representing DB Engineering and Consulting with regarding to construction of a high-speed railway in California, and acquiring Hannes Snellman’s Russian practice.
