The legal battle that pitted the Biglaw firm formerly known as Chadbourne & Parke against former partners Kerrie Campbell, Mary Yelenick, and Jaroslawa Johnson has come to an end. Chadbourne, along with its successor firm, Norton Rose Fulbright, filed court papers today detailing a settlement ending the plaintiffs’ claims of unequal pay and sex discrimination.
Though full details of the settlement are not known (the filing indicates there are “separate agreements that resolve all of plaintiffs’ remaining claims against defendants”), we do know that Campbell will receive $1 million, Yelenick will get $750,000, and $250,000 will go to Johnson. Chadbourne will also pay more than $1 million in attorney fees.

Plaintiffs attorney Alexandra Harwin of Sanford Heisler Sharp seems happy with the settlement, saying in a statement:
“We’re are pleased that the parties have resolved the plaintiffs’ claims under the Equal Pay Act and are hopeful the court will approve the settlements.”
Hopefully the eye-catching dollar amount will make other firms very careful when making their own compensation decisions.
