Book Of Business: A New Podcast From Above The Law

If you're interested in the world of Biglaw, this is the podcast for you.

If you’re interested in the world of large law firms — and if you’re reading Above the Law, you probably are — then we have the podcast for you.

Following up on the success of our first podcast, Thinking Like A Lawyer, we’ve decided to launch a second. It’s called Book of Business, brought to you by ATL and our friends at Kinney Recruiting.

Book of Business is hosted by myself and veteran legal recruiter Robert Kinney, Founder and President of Kinney Recruiting (sponsor of the podcast). In each episode, Robert and I will do three things. First, we’ll analyze a recent notable lateral move or collection of moves, explaining their significance for the Biglaw world. Second, we’ll take an in-depth look at a specific legal market, discussing what it’s like to practice in that market, including its pros and cons. Finally, we’ll offer career advice for the audience of Book of Business — current and aspiring partners at leading law firms.

In the first episode, we discuss lateral moves related to the recent merger between Andrews Kurth and Hunton & Williams; conduct a market snapshot of New York, the biggest Biglaw market; and offer advice to lawyers on the important topic of negotiating lateral offers.
