Did A Biglaw Partner Get Forced Out For Slapping An Associate When She Rejected His Advances?

This is an outrageous story.

The #metoo sexual harassment scandals keep piling up, and the legal industry — always a little bit late, but not one to abandon trends entirely — has gotten onboard. The latest scandal, reported as a blind item in RollOnFriday, involves allegations against a London-based partner at a Magic Circle firm forced out of his firm following a jaw-dropping incident.

Read the details below then circle back for the outrage:

A Magic Circle partner was forced to quit his firm after he slapped an associate because she rejected his sexual advances.

The man, who is based in London and who RollOnFriday shall name ‘Slappo’, was rejected by his new firm when it found out, but then eventually found a new job at a third firm.

Last year he propositioned a junior female lawyer in his team. When she refused to succumb to his charms, said multiple sources, he slapped her in the face. She reported the matter to the firm which, after an investigation last Autumn, asked him to leave the partnership.

Ya think? Hell, making unwanted sexual advances on a subordinate is probably more than enough — or should be more than enough — to lead to Slappo’s ouster from the firm. But raising the stakes of the altercation to the level of physical f**king violence? That is beyond “inappropriate.” That’s assault.

According to RollOnFriday, Slappo apparently found work at another firm on his way out the door. In a familiar tale, the offer was withdrawn once the details of the incident were revealed to the new firm. But don’t bother to shed any tears for Slappo, he supposedly found work at a third firm. Yes, sources report this third firm was made aware of the circumstances leading to Slappo’s departure from the original Magic Circle firm. But, really, what are a few slaps around the office when you’ve got someone who can make it rain?
