FBI Raids Michael Cohen's Office

Robert Mueller's office makes another big move.

Michael D. Cohen

In a development that will only make Donald Trump love the FBI more, the agency raided the offices of Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen.

Robert Mueller now has a bevy of Trump-related legal documents ranging from tax materials to a copy of “Committing Campaign Law Violations for Dummies.” Some light reading for his team to work through.

According to CNN, Cohen’s lawyer, MWE’s Stephen Ryan, is taking the “this is all privileged” tack:

“I have been advised by federal prosecutors that the New York action is, in part, a referral by the Office of Special Counsel, Robert Mueller,” Ryan said in the statement. “… It resulted in the unnecessary seizure of protected attorney client communications between a lawyer and his clients. These government tactics are also wrong because Mr. Cohen has cooperated completely with all government entities, including providing thousands of non-privileged documents to the Congress and sitting for depositions under oath.”

For his own part, the Trump camp says that he’s just watching all of this unfold on cable news, a stunning admission that he’s fully incapable of any thought he hasn’t seen through the cipher of the media. Perhaps he’ll find some solace in a legal analyst’s ramblings tonight.

Meanwhile, the Mueller team will be ordering in tonight. It’s going to be a long week.
