A Fundraiser So That Our Righteous Outrage May Be Directed Usefully

Tuesday, June 26th. Join us at Caveat at 6:30 for activism networking, fundraising, and a little law-splaining.

Many people are going to react to Trump’s executive order that purports to end family separation as a victory. We are not going to be those people. Trump’s EO merely creates another problem, it doesn’t solve the problem of children being jailed because their parents sought asylum in the United States. It doesn’t solve the problem of children being caged because their parents engaged in the misdemeanor offense of border crossing.

But how do we solve the problem? We’re putting on a fundraiser to address just that. Experts from KIND (Kids in Need of Defense) will join editors from Above the Law, Fashionista, Dealbreaker, and Med City to raise some money for KIND, and hopefully unleash a bunch of smart, educated people along the best paths to resist the current regime and fight back against a government that kidnaps children.

We’ll explain what’s happening, network with people who are in the fight, and if nothing else better arm you to deal with your family members who say ridiculous things like “the law says we have to arrest these people” or “it’s either cages or amnesty.” There will be opportunities to get activated, whether you have a law degree or not.

We can’t do much, but we can do what we can. And we will.

Sign up here, we’re asking for a small donation that will go to KIND.

Tuesday, June 26th, 6:30 p.m. at Caveat on Clinton Street. Details here.
