Another Biglaw Firm Decides They're Ready To Join The Compensation Big League

It looks like the tide may be turning and we'll see even more firms increase associate compensation.

The more Biglaw firms that get onboard with the latest and greatest associate compensation grid, the more that will follow. It’s like a pebble rolling downhill — that shit’s gonna pick up steam. That’s why everyone at firms that haven’t announced raises should be cheering for the good folks at Akin Gump, because the powers that be have just announced raises.

For those of you that may have, somehow forgotten what that scale looks like, let’s refresh your memory:

And they’ll also be taking home special bonuses, consistent with the prevailing market rate:

It has taken longer for this year’s Biglaw salary bump to be matched by the market than 2016. Back then, after nearly 10 years without a raise, firms all across the country were quick to pony up the money. In 2018, raises are taking longer, but it looks like the tide may be turning and we’ll see even more firms increase associate compensation.
