Good news for associates at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer — well at least those in the New York and D.C. offices — they’re getting raises and special summer bonuses. The firm may have gotten its start abroad, but they know how to play ball here in the U.S. The firm is meeting the market standard set established by a trio of firms — the Milbank/Simpson/Cravath scale — effective July 1.
Earlier today another Magic Circle firm (that’s British for big deal law firm), Clifford Chance, also moved on associate salaries. Hopefully for associates this means the latest round of raises will go around to more than just firms with a New York focus (though quite a few California firms have, so far, remained mum on the question of raises).
