Over the past few weeks, law firms in many of the markets in which we have offices have announced changes in associate compensation. After careful consideration, Executive Committee has approved salary increases for our associates in most of our offices. We are committed to ensuring we can continue to recruit and retain the top talent in our markets and provide the highest quality work and service to our clients. We are also committed to maintaining the culture and diversity of practices and offices that contribute to our firm. Our approach to compensation has always been tailored to fit our firm, our offices in many locations across the country and the diversity of our practices and clients, and it will continue to do so.
Salary changes will be effective July 1st. Individual salary memos will be distributed in the next week. Updated office compensation memos will be available on Connections early next week.
For our Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, San Diego and Washington, D.C. offices, where salaries are lockstep through the fourth-year level and in ranges starting at the fifth-year level, the lockstep salaries will be increased to match the salaries announced by our peer firms. For the fifth-year and more senior levels, the tops of the ranges will be increased to match the salaries announced by our peer firms. For those associates and counsel with a salary in a range, their salary will be increased for the remainder of this year to the same point in the new salary range as it was in the previous salary range.
