Bernie Sanders Saves Law Student From Being Hit By Car

Wow! This senator is a hero.

Imagine this: You’re a third-year law student in Washington, D.C., so you have time to do things you enjoy, like taking guitar lessons. You’re on the way to one of those lessons and despite the heavy traffic, you’re not really paying attention to where you’re going. Without realizing it, you find yourself in the way of oncoming traffic. You’re about to be hit by a car.

All of a sudden, you hear someone yelling, “Ma’am, ma’am, ma’am! Get off the street!” You turn to see who’s screaming at you, and when you see that it’s Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, you stand in place, dumbfounded. You’re still in the way of traffic and cars have started to drive around you as you ask, “Oh my goodness, are you Bernie Sanders?” The senator yells, “Yes, get off the street!” You finally do, and return to your polite rescuer’s side, a bit embarrased — but not too embarrassed to ask for a selfie.

This is exactly what happened earlier this week to Amy Currotto, a third-year student at the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law. People caught up with her for some additional details on her encounter with the senator:

After the “incredibly fast” incident, Currotto — who is a proclaimed Sanders fan and was disappointed that she didn’t get to meet the political leader during her time working on the Hill a few summers ago — says the Senator told her to be more careful and obliged for a street-side selfie.

“I was about to ask him for a picture and he’s like, ‘Well, if we’re gonna take a picture, we’re going to have to do this fast,’” Currotto recalls, explaining that a crowd began to form around the Vermont Senator and he quickly took off after the snapshot.

“It was crazy that I had this opportunity to meet him on a street corner randomly,” she adds.

Currotto’s selfie has been shared more than 4,000 times and liked almost 4,000 times. Congratulations to Amy Currotto on her sudden internet fame, and… you know, being alive, and thanks to Senator Bernie Sanders for looking out for her well-being.
