Biglaw Firms Gets In On The Associate Raise Game -- PLUS -- Bonus News

Associate raises are still happening!

Though the powers that be at McKool Smith haven’t come forward with an announcement of lockstep associate raises or bonuses, that doesn’t mean the attorneys there are stuck in the old salary scale forever. According to tipsters at the firm, the individual notifications went out at the firm and most people seem very pleased.

Based on our information, the annual end-of-year bonuses are in line (at least on average) with the bonus scale set by Cravath last month. But the really exciting news is that the firm is moving to the new $190K salary scale that became all the rage during this summer’s salary wars. And those raises will be retroactive to July 1, meaning associates will get a lump sum payment — styled as a special bonus — that makes up the difference between their old salaries and the new scale.

That’s some great holiday news indeed!
