Law School Student Mocks The Disabled Because Why Not?

Michigan student has problem with students getting extra exam time.

George H.W. Bush died recently, giving us an opportunity to revisit the Americans With Disabilities Act, the only highlight of his abysmal single term. To the dismay of hardline conservatives, Bush threw his support behind Tom Harkin’s bill requiring reasonable accommodations for those with disabilities. Apparently, some 1Ls at Michigan haven’t gotten the memo yet.

The school, like most law schools, allows students who need extra time to complete their exams. This Michigan student doesn’t like this system and felt the need to share his brain fart with the whole class.

In keeping with our long-standing tradition, we won’t name the moron who wrote this because 1Ls should be allowed to outgrow stupid:

Thank you for your contribution.

As you might imagine, most observers are plugged in enough to have at least a passing understanding of civil rights and started to savage this guy all over the boards.

Anyway, the school responded to clarify that they are not amused.

At least it’s provided law students something to talk about over the holiday weekend.

Personally, I wanted to go with “Michigan 1L Absolutely Crushes The Douche Curve,” but we ended up with the title above. Is it shitty? Probably.

UPDATE: Some people have raised issues with this post’s use of the “disabled” terminology so let me address that real quick. I’m cognizant of the issues with ableism discourse, but as the statement says, the school characterizes its policy as one of accommodating “disabled” students and whether that’s right or wrong, the student who wrote the original comment was mocking those that the school characterizes as “disabled.”
