Litigation Powerhouse Rocks The Market With Mega Bonuses

Bonuses start at $110,000.

Just when you thought this bonus season was going to be a boring one — after all, most elite firms have merely copied their bonus scales from 2017 — a firm steps forward to announce impressive bonuses.

Litigation boutique Susman Godfrey always wows with bonuses above the Biglaw standard, so another year of big bonuses isn’t a shock. But more than just repeat the admittedly large bonuses from last year, Susman has come over the top with giant numbers.

So, enough talking, here are the big numbers (disclosed by partnership class year rather than graduation year):

This year’s median bonuses for each partnership class are:
2018: $225,000
2019: $210,000
2020: $170,000
2021: $150,000
2022: $130,000
2023: $110,000

These are the median bonuses, but given that the most junior associates are averaging more ($110,000) than the most senior associates on the Cravath scale ($100,000), you know it’s a good year at Susman Godfrey. In fact, it’s the highest gross revenues and profits in the firm’s history, and as the firm says, “the partnership recognizes would not have been possible without the superb and tireless work of its associates on behalf of the firm’s clients.”

Congratulations to both the firm and its associates on a wonderful 2018.
