Juneteenth – Half-Day
|
| Colleagues:
As I have mentioned previously, we will continue our dialogue regarding racial injustice on Friday, June 19 at 12 noon CT with our online event, “A Conversation on Race and Bias in America: What’s Next?” This Friday was chosen for our panel discussion as it commemorates Juneteenth, the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Following our event, to provide time for you to explore opportunities to get involved with racial injustice issues, connect with your colleagues and friends, and reflect on racial injustice issues and how we may all play our part in addressing them, we will observe the remainder of the day as a Firm holiday.
Friday’s event and our half-day holiday are small steps in a much longer journey. We must celebrate our diversity and consistently uphold our cultural commitments, support our Black colleagues during these particularly challenging times, and ensure that our diversity and inclusion efforts are meaningful.
We are in this together, and we will continue to support each other.
