Last week, Republicans were trying to make the nickname “Notorious ACB” happen because they are both tasteless and lack any creativity. But as we pointed out then, this isn’t how a nickname works. People (or their political cronies) don’t get to just handout fawning, unearned nicknames. A real nickname is born out of circumstances.
Last week, we speculated that the Rose Garden event announcing Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination could turn out to be the source of the rampant coronavirus outbreak that, at the time, was just starting to gallop through the White House (and minutes ago, White House Press Secretary and Above the Law alum Kayleigh McEnany tested positive). Since that post, it’s been all but confirmed.

I first saw this name yesterday on the Law School Memes For Edgy T14s board and instantly realized we’d found a nickname that works. Justice Karen was a worthy option, but nothing is going to better encapsulate her career than kicking off an outbreak that functionally shut down the White House and Senate.
Congratulations on the new moniker.
