GOODWIN PROCTER — WELLBEING PAYMENT

How You Can Take Control Of Your Firm’s Financial Future
Roadblocks to data-driven business management are falling, and a better bottom line awaits.
GOODWIN PROCTER — U.S. PARALEGAL SPECIAL BONUSES
2021 U.S. Paralegal Special Bonuses
Thank you for all that you are continuing to do for our clients and our firm. We are grateful for and take pride in the quality of our paralegals, who play an integral role on our client teams. In recognition of your continued hard work, we are pleased to announce that the firm will pay special bonuses to all eligible paralegals in good standing on the date of payment.
The special bonus will cover all of FY21 and will be paid on or about November 19, 2021. The firm will calculate annualized hours for the purpose of this special bonus using the same methods used for merit bonuses paid in February 2021. This special bonus is in addition to the annual merit bonus, which is scheduled to be paid in February 2022.

How MyCase Accounting Transforms Legal Bookkeeping
This complete system built for lawyers simplifies the complex world of law firm finance.
The special bonus levels to be paid are as follows:
Level | Payment
+1600 Hours |
Payment +2000 Hours
|
|||
Paralegal | $8,000 | $13,000
Sr. Paralegal | $12,000 | $17,000
Paralegal Specialist | $15,000 | $20,000 |
Eligibility guidelines:
- Paralegals must meet a FY21 annualized hours minimum threshold of 1600 hours to be eligible – hours will be based on actual hours for the full fiscal year (10/1/20 – 9/30/21);
- Paralegals must be in good standing and actively employed on the payment date;
- Similar to attorneys, for these special bonus payments only, paralegals will get credit in their hours annualization for leaves and reduced FTE, but will not be pro-rated for leaves or reduced FTE. Customary pro-rations for reduced FTE and/or leaves of absence will be applied to the merit bonuses scheduled to be paid in February of 2022;
- New hires who start prior to July 1, 2021 will be eligible on a pro-rated basis, based on their FY21 annualized hours.
We recognize how hard you are working and that this is a challenging period on many levels. This special bonus is important and necessary, but it will not ameliorate all of the competing demands on your time. We also appreciate your efforts to help us recruit additional talented paralegals across the firm to ensure that we continue to provide the highest levels of service while affording all of you the opportunity to take substantive vacation time to relax and recharge. We hope that you can put these special bonuses to good use to further your wellness and wellbeing.
If you have any questions, please contact your manager; Vivian Swann – HR Business Partner; or Laura Baron – Director, Compensation.
Thank you.
