Baking Up Some Delicious Raises

After cutting back last year, the firm is moving ahead with the rest of Biglaw.

No word from the butcher or the candlestick maker, but these Baker Botts associates are pleased today to learn the firm will be joining the Biglaw salary tidal wave with a DPW match (I’m going to start using that terminology instead of “full” to differentiate between the firms offering either $205K for the class of 21 or $375K for the class of 12).

Baker Botts was one of the early adopters of COVID cuts, pulling back salaries across the board to deal with the pandemic. It left a bitter taste with a lot of attorney tipsters. But since 2020 ended up being an incredibly lucrative year for Biglaw, it’s good to see the firm reflect the good times.

Effective July 1 and including a summer associate bump. As per standard Biglaw operating procedure, counsel are shunted off into “communicated individually” limbo. It’s hard to get info on counsel because, at many firms, sharing their individual details with us might out them as a source. But it would be nice if folks could share broadly what they’re making after this round of raises so we can ballpark the market.

You can check out the full memo here.

Please help us help you when it comes to salary news at other firms. As soon as your firm’s memo comes out, please email it to us (subject line: “[Firm Name] Salary”) or text us (646-820-8477).
