After Milbank raised the stakes on associate salaries, Davis Polk has told the market loud and clear that they will see any salary increase and raise you.
Davis Polk has spent the last year absolutely dominating the compensation discussion as a prime mover on the special bonus front, and I guess it didn’t like the idea of not taking a leading role in the salary conversation.
