Top Biglaw Firm Announces National Salary Scale For All Associates

This Davis Polk match is for everyone -- no matter their office or how much remote work they do.

ORRICK — MEMO — US ASSOCIATE SALARIES

Team: As you are aware, over the past several weeks, the market has moved for U.S. associate salaries.  Being the best law firm to work for – for the best talent – is a core tenet of our strategy.  It includes the ability to earn above market total compensation for top performance, as well as many other elements, such as accelerated advancement, early at-bats, and the ability to unplug and recover from hard work.

On behalf of Mitch and the Board, I am pleased to share two changes: we are increasing the U.S. associate base salary scale for all partner-track associates (see scale below), and we are moving to one national pay scale for all U.S. partner-track associates and of counsel, regardless of your office affiliation and the amount of remote working you do.  We believe this move is aligned with our “one team” culture and the contributions everyone makes to our client work.

Also consistent with being “one team,” we will increase salaries for our career associates and Orrick Analytics Project Attorneys by $10,000.

We will be making appropriate base salary adjustments for of counsel as appropriate and will provide more details on that separately soon.

You are working at an extraordinary pace on behalf of our clients and our firm – and I, personally, Mitch and all of our partners appreciate your dedication, particularly under these extraordinary circumstances.

Please reach out to me, Mitch, your practice group leader or any member of our Talent team with any questions.  All changes will go into effect as of July 1st.
