Stat Of The Week: A Banner Year For NFL Gambling?

Three years after New Jersey convinced the U.S. Supreme Court to allow states to legalize sports gambling, the NFL is starting its new season in a changed world.

As USA Today noted Thursday, the BETZ exchange-traded fund, which includes online betting companies, has more than doubled S&P 500 growth since its kickoff in June of last year. And Goldman Sachs projects potential annual growth of 40% in online sports betting in the coming decade.

Andre Zammit, head of trading at the sports betting company Tipico, told USA Today: “Legal betting has reached its mainstream tipping point, with every sportscast integrating statistics and odds into their commentary.”
