How Dedicated To Diversity Is Your Biglaw Firm? There's A Ranking For That!

Biglaw firms across the country are implementing all manner of initiatives to bring attention to the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion among their ranks and within the legal community at large, with many going so far as to make diversity-related activities billable and bonus-eligible. What better way to see which firms are truly honoring their commitments to diversity from the top down than a new ranking of sorts?

Bloomberg Law recently introduced its inaugural Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Framework, a methodology the company says is the legal industry’s first — and only — way to measure law firms’ performance in this critical arena. Here’s a short summary on what the DEI Framework takes into account:

The members of the DEI Framework were recognized based on their level of disclosure of diversity-related metrics and distinguished performance against six core pillars: demographics, leadership and talent pipeline, recruitment and retention, business innovation and strategy, marketing, and diversity and inclusion in the community.
