Another Firm Bankrolls Associates With A Milbank Money Match

money22About two weeks ago, Milbank introduced a new salary scale that has slowly but surely been adopted by more than a dozen firms of all sizes, ranging from members of the Am Law 200 to some elite boutiques. While some firms continue to “monitor the market,” waiting for Davis Polk or Cravath to make a move, others are offering a competitive new payscale to their attorneys during a hot lateral market.

The latest firm to raise salaries is Axinn Veltrop & Harkrider, a midsize firm specializing in antitrust and IP matters, with offices in New York, D.C., San Francisco, and Hartford.  If you recall, the firm matched Davis Polk’s new salary scale this past summer. The firm has now matched Milbank’s new scale for all offices. “Associates are pretty happy, especially the CT associates,” says an insider at Axinn. “They’ve been paid less and have been voicing their concerns.”
