West Virginia Could Have A New Law School. I Wonder Where It Will Rank?

The contracts and torts examples will consist entirely of Casey Hendershot stunts gone awry.

Female teacher, professor standing in front of blackboard teaching student in classroom at school, college or university. Flat design people characters. Senior teacher teaching student in classroomFew things say shakeup like a new player. Last week, the West Virginia House of Delegates introduced House Bill 445 which, if it passes, would authorize the establishment of a law school at Marshall University. This could be an opportunity for West Virginians who want to balance learning torts with their busy lives.

According to a lead supporter of bill, Matt Rohrbach:

“It would open legal education to a lot of individuals who are already into their professions that could see the value of having a legal degree, perhaps even if they don’t want to practice law” […] They could be in insurance or banking or any number of professions that training in law school would be a great help to them in their professions.”

As excited as you may be to have an option that will be catering to adults with busy schedules (opposed to those damned K-JDs), I suggest waiting a moment before you take out those student loans. Even if the school gets the okay, they’d still have to muster up accreditation and staff to teach. If you’re hungry for meantime knowledge, you could enroll in a currently active law school or watch some great content on YouTube. Whatever you do, please heed this. Do not listen to most people discussing the First Amendment on Twitter. Thar be a no man’s land where people, both frequently and without shame, confuse private companies and celebrity bad takes with government censorship. If and when Marshall University School of Law becomes a thing, I’m sure the professor will go over it in Con Law 101.
