‘La la la la, I can’t hear you.’
With Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation as a member of the Supreme Court, we saw a lot of history being made.
Watching the first Black woman VP call the vote for the first Black woman Justice is fucking awesome.

Emphasis on the some, at least 46 people decided to opt out of being in the room for the newest Justice’s special moment.
Republican Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) was seen in a now-viral clip standing alone applauding after the official confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court on Thursday.
In the clip, which vividly illustrates the pervasive partisanship gripping Washington, DC, Romney’s Republican Senate colleagues can be seen slowly walking out as the Senate chamber applauds the historic confirmation of the first Black female Supreme Court justice.
I doubt Ketanji will lose out on sleep, given that the ringleader of the 46 who voted “no” to her refuses to identify his moral boundaries when it comes to politicking.

And please, save us both the time and don’t send me an email saying, “Well, Ketanji couldn’t define what a woman is!” 1) You aren’t as clever as you think you are and 2) I’ve already discussed that here.
I know that Judge Jackson wouldn’t want to do anything that would risk even the appearance of impropriety. But I, much like the 40+ senators who had something more important to do than watch history in the making, have no qualms with being unnecessarily petty in public. So, with the caveat that this is purely speculative, I will share what I imagine played in Judge Jackson’s mind as she saw a bunch of people mad they couldn’t get their way leave the room to check if they’re still popular enough.

Oh, and shouts out to Mitt Romney for being reasonable or something.
