In this episode, I speak with Hannah Brenner Johnson and Renee Knake Jefferson about their book, Shortlisted: Women in the Shadows of the Supreme Court, which focuses on the research of the women who appeared on the presidential Supreme Court shortlist back in history. Hannah and Renee not only share the stories of the women who represent the gender on the Court, but also how the nomination impacted the lives and careers of those who did not make the transaction. We also discuss the biggest takeaways they learned from these women and the process they underwent to share the story with the world.

Our name comes from none other than the Notorious Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the jabot (decorative collar) she wore when delivering dissents from the bench. It’s a reminder that even when we aren’t winning, we’re still a powerful force to be reckoned with.
