You May Keep Laughing, 3Ls!

That said, I'd advise you not to try your luck. Study for your damned finals. This is not why you want me to be writing about you.

Graduation and Celebration

Last week, a Redditor shared that a collective nightmare was a reality for them — despite being within arm’s reach of passing, they failed their final final exam. This is devastating for myriad reasons, one being the worry of not being able to walk diploma in hand with your graduating class. Oh, and shelling out another several thousand dollars for just one class. Thankfully, soon-to-be lawyers are nothing if not creative and OP had a Hail Mary up their sleeve:

It wasn’t. I’m hearing through the grapevine that several other students are in the same situation. I’m going to try to speak to the deans and ask for a retake anyway will post an update if anything works out.

UPDATE: THE DEAN IS ALLOWING ME TO RETAKE THE EXAM. I HAVE 48 HOURS TO DO IT.

I’ll update again to let everyone know what happens to me. ty to everyone for caring and giving me such solid advice. I really appreciate it and I’m so glad I asked for the retake.

This is my ticket to the finish line!

And the finish line was crossed! In an updating thread, OP shared with the class that they passed the retake! r/lawthrowaway101 is probably right in stating that the opportunity to retest was “a school preserving their employment stats after weighing the value of making you pay for a summer class against boosting their own employment numbers,” but a win is a win!

This is a win — for the student, for the school, and oddly enough, me. I love getting tips via tips@abovethelaw.com, even sweeter is sending newsworthy content to cwilliams@abovethelaw, but this is the first time that I have been tipped via Reddit!

Shouts out to r/mraemorris, OP and err…Boaty___McBoatface. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go explain to my mom what a Reddit is and then show her this post as proof of my fame.

Happy for you, OP! Enjoy your fancy piece of paper. And to everyone else, I’ll leave you with OP’s advice:

To all the rising 3L’s out there, pls learn from my mistakes. The stress was not worth it.

UPDATE: I 3LOLed too hard and failed a final [Reddit]
