Wife Of Attorney Who Died In Mexico Insists Death Was No Accident

His widow has hired an investigator to figure out how he really died.

Last month, California public defender, Elliot Blair, was on vacation in Rosarito Beach, Mexico — celebrating his first wedding anniversary with his wife, Kim Williams, a fellow public defender — when he died. Mexican authorities have ruled the death an accident, saying he fell from a resort balcony. However, that’s not at all what Williams believes.

Blair’s widow spoke out about his death, providing details about his final day. Williams was also clear in her belief this was no accident. Earlier that day, Blair and Williams enjoyed massages, margaritas, dinner, and dancing before they went to bed around midnight. Williams was then woken up by hotel management and security, wanting her to identify Blair’s body on the ground.“That was my Elliot down there,” she said. “I just was yelling at them to call an ambulance, call an ambulance, call an ambulance. They said an ambulance came an hour ago.”

Williams says she was given a variety of explanations about what actually happened: “Accident, suicide, gunshot wound. It was a roller coaster. Everything under the sun, except for what I think happened. Someone did this to him.”

As reported by Law & Crime, Williams also described a disturbing incident earlier in Blair’s last day when they were pulled over by local police:

She said on the way back to the room, Rosarito police pulled them over for rolling through a stop sign and demanded a bribe, but they didn’t have the amount the officers wanted between the two of them.

“Elliot has always told me when we go down there to kind of not engage,” Williams said. “He’ll handle whatever needs to be said with them.”

She said Blair told an officer they didn’t have the amount of cash that they wanted, then another officer approached and asked, “You know, where are you staying?”

She said Blair told the officer where they were staying and that they were on vacation.

“Elliot kind of stood his ground, showed him his work badge, and said, ‘Look, we’re attorneys,’” she said. “We’re not down here to mess around, but we’re also not going to be taken advantage of.”

They paid the officers $160 before they were let go, Williams said.

Williams has hired a private investigator and an attorney to try to get to the bottom of what happened to Blair.

“I just know it’s not an accident. I know he didn’t fall. I just know that,” she told ABC News. “I want to do everything we can to figure out what happened in that 45-minute, hour time span. Because that’s what Elliot deserves. And that’s the hardest part for me, is not knowing.”
