Abortion Clinic Initiative Named In Honor Of Samuel Alito's Mom
The Satanic Temple enters the 'your momma' joke hall of fame.

“In 1950, Samuel Alito’s mother did not have options, and look what happened.”
That’s from Malcolm Jarry, co-founder of The Satanic Temple explaining the establishment of “The Samuel Alito’s Mom’s Satanic Abortion Clinic.” Which is a story that broke some places a month ago while I was at a conference and tragically missed. Or maybe it “leaked” to use a term that Alito might understand better for an authority figure intentionally blasting a news item to the press.

Alito, who authored and published the Dobbs opinion (only once… wink, wink) stripping away reproductive rights by hand-waving precedent and the text of the Constitution in favor of the ramblings of a witch-hunter from the 1600s, is now fittingly the indirect namesake of an effort from the Salem, Massachusetts-based faith.
The online initiative offers those in New Mexico at the time of the visit with a New Mexico mailing address access to mail-delivered abortion treatment medication as an article of religious faith protected by the First Amendment and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. This endeavor aligns with the Satanic Temple’s history of using the legal system to highlight persecution through sly, attention-grabbing legal action. But…
“There’s always a concern that our humour is mistaken for a lack of seriousness. However, when it comes to things like the clinic, I know that our work is going to speak for itself. I know the number of people we’re going to be able to help with this, especially when we move into other states. Eventually, the work will speak for itself,” [Erin Helian, the Temple’s religious reproductive rights director] said.
