Richest Law Firm In The World Announces Associate Raises
Kirkland & Ellis enters the associate compensation war.
Kirkland & Ellis is the richest law firm in the world. Last year, the behemoth made a staggering $6,514,300,000 in gross revenue. So they definitely have the cash on hand to keep up with the Cravaths of the world when it comes to associate compensation. And, indeed they have.
Today, Kirkland announced raises for associates. Note, unlike many of their competitors, bonus information was not shared in the raise memo, but they did indicate that would be forthcoming in the next few weeks.
This is the new salary grid at Kirkland, effective January 1, 2024:
Though the firm’s compensation grid only goes up to the class of 2018, the memo (available below) did clarify that income partners whose compensation is tied to the grid will also get raises in line with the market rate for their class year.
Remember everyone, we depend on your tips to stay on top of important bonus updates, so when your firm matches, please text us (646-820-8477) or email us (subject line: “[Firm Name] Matches”). Please include the memo if available. You can take a photo of the memo and send it via text or email if you don’t want to forward the original PDF or Word file.
And if you’d like to sign up for ATL’s Bonus Alerts (which is the alert list we also use for salary announcements), please scroll down and enter your email address in the box below this post.
