Taylor Swift’s quest for world domination has absolutely taken over law schools. And it’s not a terrible surprise, seeing all of the legal issues surrounding the mega star. Whether it’s trademark applications, her contract machinations which allowed her to rerecord her music catalogue after it was sold out from under her, getting sued over silly copyright allegations, or giving powerful testimony after being groped, her life is ripe for all sorts of issue spotting.
Attorney Vivek Jayaram, founder of Jayaram Law, used the life and time of Taylor Alison Swift to teach a class on Intellectual Property law at the University of Miami School of Law called “BLANK SPACE: IP Law through the Lens of Taylor Swift’s Career.” And Jayaram has sprinkled snippets of the class throughout his social media.

The bad news for lawyers is that the course is not currently available for CLE credits — though that process is in the works. But for Swifties or the Swiftie-curious, this is a a great class to put the trials and tribulations of the world’s biggest pop star into the proper legal context.
