Ed. note: Welcome to our daily feature, Quote of the Day.

Of all my legacies, this is the one I’m most proud of. You have brought to life a book that was in my head for over 35 years.

— Justice Sonia Sotomayor, in comments given to a large group of children, parents, actors, and musicians in Kansas City, Missouri, before the dress rehearsal of a musical adaptation of “Just Ask!: Be Brave, Be Different, Be You” (affiiate link), a children’s story she wrote. Fran Sillau, the production’s director, said of Sotomayor’s involvement, “Every scene that the audience will see she has touched. If she wasn’t a justice, she would be a drama research assistant.”
