For students taking the bar exam in New York next July, the test will look a lot different than it does today.
The New York Court of Appeals has just announced that it will adopt the recommendation of the Advisory Committee on the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE) that New York adopt the UBE.
July 2016 will be the first exam to implement the change.

The Court of Appeals also adopted separate requirements that applicants for admission in New York be required to both complete an online course on New York law, as well as pass an online examination on New York law.
There has been a great deal of controversy about the changes, with opponents of the plans arguing that adopting the UBE will saturate the already-overcrowded New York attorney job market, as well as making attending New York-area law schools less attractive to students who grew up in other areas of the country.
