What’s next on the horizon for you if you graduate from high school at the age of 13? For this 16-year-old, it’s law school.
Meet Haley Taylor Schlitz. This spring, she’ll be doing four very important things: graduating from Tarrant County College Northest with an associate’s degree, graduating from Texas Woman’s University with a bachelor of science, getting her driver’s license, and choosing which law school she’ll attend. TCC News recently ran a profile on the gifted-and-talented pre-law student’s ambitions:

Southern Methodist University, Howard University, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Southern University and Texas Southern University all have accepted her into their law programs; she is currently deciding where to enroll. She plans a career in intellectual property (IP) or education law.
Schlitz will be among the youngest law students in America, and you can go ahead and call her some Doogie Howser derivative, but she’s so young she probably doesn’t even really know who that is. No matter where she enrolls or what type of law she choose to practice in the future, Schlitz says she wants to become a legal advocate to make sure that gifted and talented programs at public schools are open to all students.
Congratulations to Haley Taylor Schlitz, a supersmart kid who will likely breeze through law school. Make sure you find a way to become part of her study group ASAP, because slots will probably fill up quickly.
