Lawyerly Lairs: An Associate's $3.6 Million Apartment

Partners, you can keep your lousy spring bonuses. This associate doesn't need your money; he just bought a $3.6 million apartment....

Here it is. The highlight of the apartment is that central living area with two fireplaces. But it’s also great — especially in Manhattan — to have three bedrooms, three bathrooms, ample closet space, and a “utility room” with a washer and dryer:

It’s a remarkable apartment — and definitely not the studio or one bedroom of your typical law firm associate in NYC. Harris Mufson is one associate who couldn’t care less what Biglaw bonuses are like this year.

Of course, everything’s relative. This $3.6 million apartment, while magnificent, might seem like a hovel compared to the Palm Beach mansion that Michal Fromer Mufson’s parents sold last year for $10.93 million. That house boasted five bedrooms, six baths, and more than 7,000 square feet of living space.

But let’s not dwell on the negative. Like the actresses that Marion Dougherty used to cast in feature films, Harris and Michal Mufson’s apartment has great bone structure — and, after a quick makeover, will look nothing short of amazing. Congratulations to the Mufsons on their wonderful new home!
