Husband And Wife Attorney Duo Accused Of Stabbing Law Firm's Managing Partner

Sources allege that the criminal activity occurred after one of the invaders was let go from the firm.

Workplace disputes at law firms usually end in an empty bottle of liquor, but not this time.

On Sunday night, a pair of attorneys allegedly knocked on the door of a law firm managing partner’s home, and forced their way inside. The married couple stands accused of viciously stabbing both the partner and his wife, both of whom were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Sources say the criminal activity occurred shortly after one of the invaders was let go from the firm. Let’s dig into all of the gory details…

Alecia and Andrew Schmuhl, both 2009 graduates of Valparaiso University School of Law who later married, are the ones who allegedly perpetrated this crime. According to her LinkedIn profile, Alecia Schmuhl is employed at Bean Kinney & Korman, a well-known Northern Virginia firm — or, she was employed there until recently. One of our sources tells us that Alecia’s employment at the firm was terminated this past Friday.

Alecia and her husband, who describes himself as an “experienced attorney seeking opportunities,” allegedly cooked up this plan to get back at Leo S. Fisher, Bean Kinney’s managing partner, after Alecia was fired. Here are some details on the criminal conduct that transpired that night from WUSA9:

[Fisher], who’s in critical condition, is a corporate attorney and has his own practice in Arlington. Both suspects are attorneys as well, and sources tell WUSA9’s Peggy Fox that they targeted the victims over a former dispute. We’re told that one of the suspects is a former employee of one of the victims. Police say the suspects may have tormented the victims for hours.

According to police, the male homeowner had responded to a knock at the front door when another man made his way inside the home and assaulted the male homeowner. The female homeowner went to go see what was going on and then the suspect assaulted her as well. Police say one of the homeowners was able to activate an alarm and the suspect fled.

Per the Washington Post, there was so much blood that a neighbor assumed the Fishers had been shot. Perhaps the Schmuhls listened to the Legally Blonde soundtrack before they embarked upon this stabby adventure.

Blood in the water
Dark and red and raw
You’re nothing until the thrill of the kill
Becomes your only law.

WUSA9 also has some video coverage that was taken at the scene of the crime:

With a rap sheet like that, the Schmuhls’ résumés may be as bloodied as their alleged victims.
