I would be cold-blooded if I couldn’t say that the circumstances are just—they’re tragic. They’re tragic for the child, they’re tragic for the family, they’re tragic for the community. I have a heart that beats just like everybody else.

— Special Prosecutor Scott Ellington of the Second Judicial District of Arkansas, commenting on the negligent homicide charge levied against Judge Wade Naramore of the Eighteenth East Judicial Circuit of Arkansas in the hot-car death of his 17-month-old son. Judge Naramore was arrested yesterday and released on $5,000 bond. This past July, Judge Naramore’s son died after reportedly being left unattended in a car on a day when temperatures reached 101 degrees.
