Dean [Strang] and Jerry [Buting] didn’t do no investigation on this case, if they did I would not be in prison, [t]hey would have the suspect if they did there [sic] job!! Dean and Jerry all they were doing is predict [sic] the state and there [sic] law firm. Lawyers sould [sic] be responsible for they [sic] wrong doing!!! Lawyers sould [sic] loose [sic] there [sic] license when they don’t investigate they [sic] case to proof [sic] there [sic] client’s [innocence] and they [sic] violating the Ethics, the State sould [sic] take there [sic] license for good.

— an excerpt taken from a letter written by Steven Avery, subject of the Netflix documentary series “Making a Murderer,” where he blames defense attorneys Dean Strang and Jerry Buting for his conviction. Later in his letter, Avery writes, “Dean and Jerome are Bad Attorneys … [t]hey don’t now [sic] what Justice is and they don’t now [sic] what is a [sic] investigation is because if they did they would have done it for a [sic] innocent man like me!!!” Avery’s entire letter is available in the latest edition of In Touch Weekly.
