What could possibly be more stressful than being a Biglaw associate with a newborn? Being a Biglaw associate with five newborns.

Meet Michael Baudinet. He’s a 2012 graduate of Harvard Law School and an associate in the white-collar defense practice at McGuireWoods in Richmond, Virginia. He’s also the proud new father of quintuplets: Ava Louise, Clara Catherine, Camile Whitney, Isabelle Francis, and Luke Thomas. In case you were wondering, parents have about a one in 60 million chance of having quintuplets.

The Baudinet quints, who are now six months old, made their public debut last week in a large conference room at McGuireWoods, each wearing a tiny McGuireWoods onesie. “Getting up in the morning is hard because I don’t want to leave these guys, but then, you know, they got to get fed,” Michael said during an interview with local CBS affiliate WTVR. “It’s pretty crazy, our quiet house has turned into a train station.” Here are some additional details from WTVR:

[Michael and Margaret Baudinet] had been trying to have children for more than 18 months and experienced miscarriages and other setbacks. That’s when they sought fertility treatment.

When word finally came that Margaret was pregnant, the doctors originally told the Baudinet’s they were having quadruplets. That was obviously incorrect.

“You know I was terrified. But at least I was able to talk, unlike this guy,” Margaret said pointing at Michael.

“I didn’t talk for about a month after finding out. Literally, a little bit of shock going on,” he said.

McGuireWoods offers new fathers six weeks of paid parental leave, and they may participate in a six-month “return-to-work ramp-up” where they will receive a 20 percent reduction in their billable-hour target with no change in their pay after returning from family leave.

Congratulations to Michael Baudinet on the birth of his quintuplets, and to McGuireWoods for being so supportive of its associate’s dive into parenthood.
