Did Lamar Odom Cheat On Khloe Kardashian With A Lawyer?

Who's the lawyer involved, and what law school did she attend?

Here at Above the Law, we sometimes write about the Kardashians, a family made famous because a celebrity lawyer’s daughter couldn’t keep her legs closed on camera. From their 72-day marriages to their legal wranglings with Jonathan Lee Riches to their deep thoughts on controversial trial verdicts, these tabloid queens have given us a fair share of entertaining legal fodder.

Unfortunately for Khloe Kardashian, a recent law school grad allegedly provided some “entertaining legal fodder” to the reality TV star’s husband, Lamar Odom. Apparently this NBA player thought he was a free agent on the basketball court and in the bedroom…

Meet Polina Polonsky, a Pepperdine Law graduate who was admitted to the California Bar in 2010. Right now, she works at Pensanti & Associates, a criminal defense firm, but it’s unclear how much longer she’ll be employed there, given the media spectacle she’s made out of herself. It’s also unclear how much longer she’ll be in good standing with the California Bar, but we’ll get to that fun fact later on in our discussion.

In a Star Magazine tell-all, “gorgeous brunette lawyer” Polonsky claims she began seeing Lamar Odom in early June, and that their relationship progressed “slowly.” She didn’t kiss him until a week after they met, and then she made him wait three full days after their first kiss to consummate their affair. Classy lady.

But don’t rush too quickly to judgment, because Polonsky was “under the impression that [Lamar] had left Khloe,” since the ex-Clippers player was living in a hotel in L.A. After all, “[h]e acted completely available,” and we all know that men rumored to have cheated on their wives in the past would never lie.

This titillating tale ends with Khloe Kardashian allegedly attacking Polonsky at her home and Polonsky using a little of her legal flair by taking and passing a lie detector test to confirm the veracity of her affair with a married man. Just like she would in a California courtroom, Polonsky presented the polygraph results to the court of public opinion, and she’s allowing its ever-temperate jurors to draw whatever inferences from it that they wish — but specifically, this lawyer just wants the world to know that she was truthful about allowing a washed-up NBA player to hit it and quit it.

As to the future of Polonsky’s career, we reached out to ask if she thought her behavior was becoming of a member of the California Bar. We’ve not yet heard back from her, but one California criminal defense lawyer opines that Polonsky could be in violation of California Business and Professions Code § 6106:

The commission of any act involving moral turpitude, dishonesty or corruption, whether the act is committed in the course of his relations as an attorney or otherwise, and whether the act is a felony or misdemeanor or not, constitutes a cause for disbarment or suspension.

Opening your legs to married men and running to the tabloids about it could possibly qualify as an “act involving moral turpitude,” so Polonsky’s good standing with the state Bar may not be long for this world.

Next time you have an affair, do yourself a favor and keep it behind closed doors like everyone else. If you’re in California, you may be putting your good name and your livelihood as a lawyer at risk.
