On Thursday, you voted on the finalists, and now it’s time to announce the winner of our caption contest…
Keeping Law School Accessible When Federal Loans Fall Short
As federal borrowing caps tighten financing options for law students, one organization is stepping in to negotiate the terms they can't secure alone.
As is customary with our caption contests, we will now reveal the backstory behind the picture. In case you were wondering what happened to Tristan Taylor Thomas… just kidding. This screenshot came to us courtesy of a disgruntled graduate of Hofstra Law. He’s employed at a law firm, but not as a lawyer, and says he’ll never make enough money to pay off the debt he took on to attend law school. “I hope this serves as a warning for anyone who’s still crazy enough to go to law school,” he said in an email to us.
Here’s the winning caption for our latest contest (which our angry Hofstra grad chose as his favorite, too):
Why would anybody need over 50 years to pay off $183,213? That’s barely one year’s salary.

Thanks to everyone for suggesting comments and for voting. If you wrote the winning caption, feel free to email us, subject line “Caption Contest Winner,” to claim your prize (an Above the Law t-shirt).
