The hits keep on coming in the legal profession’s summer of sadness. Earlier today, we wrote about a fatal courthouse shooting, and now we have news on a second deadly shooting, but this time, it’s yet another senseless murder.
After responding to a tip about a car that had been parked for an “unusually long time,” Delaware police found the body of Shazim Uppal in his car, a 2007 black Audi A8, in an empty lot on Monday evening. Police have categorized Uppal’s death as a homicide. He died from gunshot wounds to the upper torso.
Uppal had recently graduated from the Temple University School of Law, and family members say he was really looking forward to becoming a lawyer. Here’s more information on Uppal’s fatal shooting from the Delaware News Journal:

After the man failed to respond to officers trying to check on him from outside the car, New Castle County Police Chief Col. Elmer M. Setting said police entered the car and found he was dead.
“He was identified pretty quickly,” Setting said, but his name was being withheld as police awaited autopsy results and additional investigative information. He also said police were notifying additional family members.
Setting declined to discuss any evidence found in or around the Audi.
Uppal’s family is understandably shocked, and they all gathered to mourn his untimely death on Tuesday. “He was a lovely boy,” said his uncle, Hagi Uppal.
